Keywords: how to find out what your customers type into Google

Customers don't search for your service the way you describe it. Here is how to find the words they actually use.

You speak one language, your customer speaks another

A clinic says “orofacial harmonisation”. The customer searches “lip filler price”. A builder says “high-end residential project”. The customer searches “home builders in Byron Bay”. A keyword is what people type, not what is in your brochure.

Start with the questions you already get

Your business WhatsApp is a goldmine of keywords. The most common questions, like “how much does it cost”, “how long does it take” and “do you cover my area”, are exactly what people search before contacting anyone.

Use Google itself

Type your service into the search bar and see what Google autocompletes. Scroll to the bottom and look at related searches. Open the “People also ask” section in the middle of the results. All of that is Google telling you what people look for.

Group them by intent

Someone searching “what is a dental implant” is still learning. Someone searching “dental implant price in Bondi” is ready to book. Both matter, but they need different pages: an article for the first and a service page for the second.

One main keyword per page

Every page on the website should have one main topic. When a page tries to rank for everything, it ranks for nothing. That structure is what makes your Google ranking grow month after month.
